The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) regulates the oil and natural gas  industry through the Ontario Regulation 245/97 and the Provincial Operating Standards, which are designed to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational practices for oil and natural gas exploration and  production, hydrocarbon storage and salt/solution mining.
